Louis van Gaal saluted Wayne Rooney after Manchester United's captain scored the winner against Swansea to move ahead of Denis Law in the Old Trafford scoring charts.
Van Gaal believes that Rooney's clever backheel in a 2-1 victory could kickstart the season for both United and their striker after a run of eight games without a win.
Rooney's first league goal since mid-October was the 238th of his United career, lifting him clear of Law and to within 11 of all-time leader Sir Bobby Charlton.
